About Tara Dawn

Hi, I’m Tara Dawn (she/her), a mixed-race, cisgender woman and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in North Carolina. I provide trauma-informed therapy for adults who are exploring how to live with more ease, authenticity, and self-understanding. My practice is especially attuned to the experiences of neurodiverse individuals, highly sensitive people, and anyone who has felt “othered” by dominant cultural expectations.

My practice is affirming of all identities and rooted in the belief that you don’t need to be fixed—you need to be supported and understood. I offer therapy that meets you where you are, at your pace, and in ways that honor your unique nervous system, learning style, and life experience.

I draw from a range of evidence-based and embodied modalities, including EMDR, DBT, CBT, motivational interviewing, and somatic practices. At the core, I lead with empathy, directness, and deep respect for your lived wisdom. Together, we’ll focus on reducing anxiety and overwhelm, increasing self-trust, and building strategies that actually work for your life.

Not a fan of traditional therapy settings? That’s okay.

Many people—especially those who are neurodiverse—find it easier to open up in less formal environments. That’s why I offer Greenway Therapy: walk-and-talk sessions in nature, where we can connect in a setting that feels more comfortable, spacious, and grounded.
